About

About tempturn

TempTurn does exactly one job: converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin, showing the formula for each scale alongside wind chill, heat index and common cooking temperatures. That is the whole of the site. No account, no newsletter, and no wall between you and the number you came for.

The idea behind TempTurn

Most everyday-utility tools online spend more screen space on advertising and consent banners than on the calculation. TempTurn takes the other approach — the tool does one thing, converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin, showing the formula for each scale alongside wind chill, heat index and common cooking temperatures, and the page stays out of the way while it does. A narrow scope is easier to keep correct, too.

The method behind it

The calculation happens in your browser, not on a server. Specifically, it converts through Celsius as the common scale, so the exact offset of 273.15 for Kelvin and the 32-degree offset for Fahrenheit are applied consistently rather than chained in a way that drifts. The method is documented rather than concealed, so you can reproduce a result by hand and see exactly where any difference comes from.

Your data stays here

This is a local tool by construction. The temperature you enter never leaves your device; there is no endpoint to receive it and no log to read it back from. Disconnecting from the internet after the page loads changes nothing about how it behaves.

Who it is for

How this stays free

There is no charge to use TempTurn. The costs are covered by advertising, which stays out of the way of the tool itself and has no access to your input. If an advert ever interferes with the page, tell us and we will look at it.

Contact

Tell us through the contact page if you find a bug or want something added. The temperature converter improves mainly on the strength of what users report.
